Nursery passion and associational commitment: the challenge for innovative, sustainable, and network-capable agriculture in Calabria
Nursery work teaches a fundamental lesson: to reap solid fruit, one must be able to cultivate patiently, tend the roots and always look to the future. It is with this spirit that our owner, the Dr. Maria Grazia Milone, a nursery businesswoman from Lamezia Terme, welcomes the reappointment to the leadership of Cia Calabria Center, which occurred on February 27, 2026, in Crotone.
Along with the president, the top team is completed with the appointment of the deputy vice president Ignazio Mauro Spadafora and the vice president Riccardo Tristaino, joined by the new Board of Directors.
Spring is not just a season; for those who experience the nursery on a daily basis, it is the moment of truth. It is the time when the months of selection, grafting and meticulous care explode in a riot of new shoots, blooms and scents. This year, however, nature's awakening brings with it a novelty that we have cultivated with the same patience we devote to a young citrus grove: the launch of our new website. A digital evolution designed to shorten the distance between the land and those who, like you, love it, design it and live it every day.

A vision for tomorrow's agriculture
IN her report, President Milone reviewed the critical issues faced in the previous term, emphasizing how farmers' resilience has been challenged by price increases, geopolitical crises, climate change, wildlife damage, sanitary and phytosanitary emergencies, and water shortages. The focus is now on future challenges, summarized in three key words: Income, Life and Quality.
- Income: Agriculture must once again become an economically attractive sector. Without the right profit, there cannot be the necessary generational turnover.
- Life: As producers of food, farmers are the guarantors of the life and social resilience of territories.
Quality: The only way forward is to focus on excellence through the’innovation for sustainability.
The importance of networking
Milone. “We need to take advantage of the synergy effect and teamwork to make our voices heard.”.
The assembly benefited from high-profile technical speeches:
- Claudia Merlino (Geopa-Copa) on simplified waste registry requirements. RENTRI.
- Anna Rufolo (Cia National) on developments in the CAP post-2026.
- Massimo Bagnoli (Agroenergy Esco) on the need for services geared toward the strategic consulting.
Significant is the presence of Peter Falbo (President Chamber of Commerce CZ-KR-VV) and John Ferrarelli (Comalca President), testifying to the willingness of institutions and categories to work together as a system.
A wish for good work
Our entire nursery team huddles around Maria Grazia Milone, who is proud to see her leadership committed to the forefront of local growth. To the president, vice presidents Ignazio Mauro Spadafora, Riccardo Tristaino and the entire leadership team, goes our best wishes for good work for agriculture in Calabria.
